100 New Pictures! Zion Canyon

Scott | September 30, 2006 10:09 pm

Active active active!

We found out in the local paper that they were having a national park day where admission was free. We couldn’t pass up the deal so we went and saved $20.

Lucky you, more awesome pictures of Utah are now available! Here’s the link to this album.

The reddest fall color leaves I’ve ever seen. Tammy had to work hard for this picture (steep hill climb) so be sure to thank her!

That’s already too many for this blog post. Be sure to check out the photo album for all 100 pictures available.

Brittany’s AYSO Soccer Party

Scott | September 26, 2006 11:53 pm

Brittany received her award and trophy today for the AYSO soccer league. They had an awesome time at a GranDee’s ice cream shop and had what is called The Zion. A MASSIVE sundae filled with 24 scoops of ice cream.

Tammy said they completed the task of eating the entire sundae (with the help of parents). They will receive a plaque with their names on it and it will be posted on the wall with others who have completed The Zion challenge.

Take a look at the photos!

I keep forgetting to mention

All-

I wanted to mention in my earlier post that any photos you see in my gallery are available in full 5MP 2576 x 1932 resolution. If you would like a specific picture in high resolution for printing, all you need to do is leave a comment along with your email and I’ll send it to you.

The high resolution pictures are around 2-3MB in size each. I resize them down to 1024 x 768 to save server space. The last 110 pictures I uploaded would have been 264MB in size and would take forever to upload and for you, the visitor, to download. These same 110 pictures resized only takes 18MB in space and download much quicker.

Another trip to Zions today. Fall colors… oh my!

Scott | 3:58 pm

Well, they woke me up today at 9AM to enjoy the great Utah outdoors, once again. I think Tammy and I have been up to Zions National Park about 7 times or so this year alone.

This time, we got to enjoy the waters of the area. Both Navajo Lake and the Yankee Meadow Reservoir. Here’s some pictures:

Once again we had an awesome time. It was a little colder than normal, around 55 degrees while we were up there. In Cedar City, we are warming up and enjoying the mid 70s. It is supposed to warm up for the rest of the week to around the low 80s.

Every day I am amazed at how healthy most Utah patrons live. We see lots of joggers in the morning, biking in the afternoons, and people walking near the evenings.

As far as the kids, they have year round activities. Brittany’s AYSO soccer league just ended, however, the KICKS soccer league has just started. Brittany wanted to join the KICKS program so we let her. Once that is over, we have her enrolled in basketball which starts sometime in December. Cole is enjoying his pre-k schooling and getting him to miss a day is impossible. He absolutely loves it. His schooling is part of the Southern Utah University (SUU) schooling program. The college kids come over to help everyday as part of their lab work. This pre-k school has the kids cooking, cutting veggies, playing on computers, and so much more! Amazing!

As far as Tammy, she has fallen in love with this beast of a toy:

Yamaha Rhino

The Yamaha Rhino is really an amazing side by side utility ATV. Eventually, we are going to get one along with a custom 2 seat rollcage for the back to seat a total of 4 people and still fit a cooler in the back. :)

There are some nice addon features available for it including a winch and winch mount. Once you have that, you can add my favorite addon available, a SNOW PLOW! It would be totally awesome to be able to dig out in less than 5 minutes and do the neighbor’s yards as well (and probably Mom’s house since it is only 0.3 miles away).

Well that is it for now. Leave comments! You don’t even need an account now to comment. I’d appreciate it! Thanks!

Our dog is spoiled. Plexidor dog door installed!

Scott | September 19, 2006 9:16 pm

Well I just spent the afternoon installing a premium quality dog door for Holly. The total cost of the door was around $240 but is well insolated to keep the weather out of the shed.

She now has free access to the shed without having to leave the door open (which allows in rain, wind, snow, and dirt/leaves). Her dog house is inside the shed with a nice thick warm blanket.

With all this done, I think Holly will stay warmer here than in Silver Lakes.

The dog door we purchased came from an internet site that provided free shipping (I don’t remember the URL). The main company is located here. We ordered the medium size with white plates. The door is a saloon type door that really does an excellent job keeping the cold out. I am very impressed with the quality!

Installing the door was fairly easy and straight-forward. The only surprise was the actual door has an outside framing on both sides that is metal and the center is filled with packed styrofoam balls. I didn’t know new style doors don’t use wood at all? Is this for better insolation or a cost cutting thing? Very interesting. Cleaning up all the little styrofoam balls from the shed was fun. Heh.

We had a very busy and fun day today! New pictures!

There are new pictures added for today’s events in the gallery. Click here to view them.

Lets see what all did we do today.

This morning Brittany had another KICKS Soccer Game. Her last game, she scored 3 goals and the team won 10-0. Today, they lost but Brittany scored the only goal for the team! We are so proud of her! The team now has a record of 2-1.

After the game was over, we headed over to the Skyview Festival. Earlier in the morning, they launched a ton of hot air balloons and they actually flew right over our house. So fun!

Anyways, at the Skyview Festival, we watched remote controlled model planes, had special balloons made for the kids, and the kids played on the slide.

After that, we decided to load the quad up in the truck to go quading. Little did we know there was a planned extreme rock climbing event going on at Three Peaks. Check out some of the shots we look!

Shopping for Deals

Scott | September 15, 2006 7:47 pm

I was browsing a couple of sites I use to shop for deals online. Then I remembered, I never posted these on ScottBuehler.com before!

I like to shop daily, for about 10 minutes to make sure I am not missing out on a really good deals. An example, my 20″ widescreen monitor from Dell with UltraSharp technology was normally $800 and I purchased it with coupons for $300.

My favorite site is FatWallet.com which is where I found the deal on my monitor.

My backup alternative site is SlickDeals.net.

Give them a try. If you know of other great sites like this to shop online, feel free to comment on this article. Thanks!

Wondering how our weather is?

Scott | September 14, 2006 10:56 am

I recently added a great weather tool to my main page which shows a very accurate weather report from Cedar City, UT. The report comes directly from the Cedar City airport which is about a mile from both Mom & Pete’s house and my house.

The only major difference between the airport and us is we are 300 ft higher in elevation on a mountain (Leigh Hill) so we get a little more snow than downtown gets.

Anyways, they are saying that Northern Utah is expected to get their first snow this weekend and we will be 15 degrees colder than normal for this time of the year.

Our trees are starting to show fall colors. Mom’s view from her house should really be awesome once fall is in full effect.

Anyways, if you are wondering how badly we are freezing, just take a second or two and login to Scott Buehler dot com and check out the weather on the right side of the page. Thanks!
