House in escrow today!

Scott | August 29, 2005 7:00 pm

Our house is in escrow today. Woohoo! We were thinking this day wasn’t coming.

The people that are buying the house came when we had all this painting stuff in the middle of the living room and the house was in complete disarray. LOL. Go figure.

Lets hope the escrow goes through without major problems.

Curb appeal project.

Ok, we are pretty much done with our curb appeal project to get more people in to view the house and hopefully purchase.

One of the problems was the beat down bridge and wishing well that looked very old and torn down. Here are some new pictures as it looks now. Click image to enlarge.

Here’s after the repairs and repainting.

The bridge and converted flower pot was a project both Tammy and I spent two days on. Before it had 4 boards missing and the color was hideous.

Now we take pride on our curb appeal. It is very entertaining for both Tammy and I to watch people drive by the house and see the shock on their face. It is a huge difference and many people have complimented us on it.

What do you think?

This is a nice link on wikipedia that does a good job explaining how to build a computer.

Busy busy busy

Scott | 9:25 am

Its been a while since I made a post. Sorry.

We’ve been very busy cleaning up the house and moving furniture around.

We had a second garage sale last week and ended up giving away my huge corner desk free. Found a taker and thankfully, its gone. We made another $480 on Friday and didn’t open the garage sale on Saturday since everything was sold including the pool table.

This week I’ve been more focused on house repairs. I need to go to town to find a replacement motor for the overhead fan in the bathroom and we (Dad and I) got all circuits fixed so that the doorbell rings. I just need to get a new doorbell button and attach it. That’ll be easy.

This week we want to focus on our front appearance and get the bridge and wishing well repainted and repaired.

I think someone will definately want this house now that most of the obvious problems are fixed. We have received one offer so far but it was a rediculous lowball offer that the realtor didn’t even present to us.

More updates soon!

Day 3 of moving project

Scott | August 7, 2005 7:45 pm

The garage sales for this week amounted to just under $400 combined for Friday and Saturday.

Hey, if someone wants to pay me for my crap AND haul it away for me too, go for it. The garage sale concept is frickin awesome. LOL.

Can’t seem to find a buyer for my huge corner desk but I will lower it to $50 and maybe someone will haul it off for me so I won’t have to. I also have a pool table I’m trying to sell that I don’t have a buyer for. I may need to place an ad in the paper to sell the pool table. I really need to sell it because I don’t really want to move it to Utah. LOL.

Other than that, we are packing, sorting, and trashing all sorts of stuff. We already have plenty of supply for next week’s garage sale where I sell another dressor, headboard, and nightstand as well as tons of stuff from the kids rooms including old bulky toys they don’t play with.

Brittany’s computer is now broken down and I am using her computer desk for a couple months. She took it pretty well but Cole thought it was the end of the world. At three years old, he’s already addicted to computers. Yikes!

Other than that, we need to proceed with cleaning the back yard, shampooing the carpet, and other various cleanup tasks that should take the entire week.

The house is looking bigger and bigger every day we clean. All this large furniture being moved and sold is really opening up the house to show off the huge entry into the house.

As far as selling the house, we are having an average of 2-3 walk-thrus a day. Today we only had one but it was a repeat walk-thru and she really sounded like she liked the place. Who knows.

Tomorrow, our realtor said our listing will hit the entire investment market down below. So Monday may be a big day for us. I’d love for an invester to come up here and pay cash for the place. LOL.

Wish us luck on selling this house. The last owner was unable to sell it. We got lucky and simply took over the payments for him. A very good deal.

Back to cleaning……………….

Latest news

Scott | August 5, 2005 9:35 pm

I am tired! …….Goodnight…….

Just kiddin.

Our house is officially on the market and can be found on realtor.com here.

Sale price is $289,900.

The house was officially listed on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning we already had a garage sale. We sold some heavy furniture but not enough.

We are having another garage sale tomorrow morning to move out more stuff we find as we pack up.

My mom has also listed her house on the market as well. Her listing is here.

Both houses will have pictures on realtor soon. We just got our fliers posted on our for sale sign today.

A word to the wise, do not list your house unless its ready for show. We have been running around like crazy trying to clean it all up while still running a garage sale and packing for our eventual move.

Lets hope my house will sell!

Realtor coming today

Scott | August 4, 2005 1:30 am

Edit: It’s already 1AM so I changed the title to today:

Another fun day of heavy cleaning.

The kitchen is brighter white than ever before. We decided we will never ever have an all-white kitchen. Much the same about buying another car. No more friggen white!!!

We have a realtor coming over this afternoon to give us an assessment of our house to see what we truely can sell it for.

We are hoping for some good feedback as well as finding out what we should do to improve the value before the sale. We want to get out of California as quick as possible but also to make as much as possible on the sale.

We already bought a can of darker red paint to repaint our bridge in the front yard as well as our small flower garden thingy. This project will happen after I am done cleaning up the back yard of all these weeds. LOL.

Once we have a yard sale and sell off all of our crappy furniture we don’t want to take, we will then start boxing up things and take it to a storage unit. We want to have a very minimal amount of large furniture items so the house appears larger and more appealing to a buyer.

By the way, at this point, I will start recuiting help for painting. We will need some help!

What a day! Moving sucks

Scott | August 3, 2005 12:46 am

Ok, this is officially the first day of getting ready to move out of California.

Tammy spent most of the day cleaning up the house for a realtor who is coming by tomorrow.

Myself, I spent last night completely breaking down our old swingset in the back yard and today, hauled all the metal junk to the dump.

After washing the truck (it got really dirty), I decided to install my new receiver in my truck. I love the new receiver!

My factory speakers are putting out way better quality sound just with that upgrade so I’m pretty happy! Only thing I don’t understand is my Pioneer receiver has a detachable face and it didn’t come with a carrying case. I don’t undertand that concept. But oh well, I’m tired and going to bed. Night!
